Yes, see last 8 bytes in firmware.Normal last 4 bytes are for checksum, but this firmware have "Extrablock".

Is there a way to change subtitle size? I see there are 4 fonts for subtitles, but I don´t know how to change them. I searched in the forum but didn´t find an answer.
I´m using yellow subtitles and it´s very good, do you think a black outline would be nice?

Subtitles fonts are in "DivX Subtitle" in "Preference Page" , but this menu is active only in FileBrowser.

Black outline ?(!!!), subtitles are with black outline, if you want OSD with black outline, the answer is no (for this time...).

Thanks, now I found the menu! I don´t know what happened, but the subtitle was yellow without black outline, but today, after using the "DivX subtitle" menu the subtitles are perfect, with black outline.

I don´t think this firmware will need more than 1 version! It´s already great! Unless if we could use MKV and H264 from an external HDD to see HD and FullHD movies! But I have already ordered my Popcorn Hour A-110!

I don´t think you can use MKV, unless you use specific media players to decode H264. Search for Popcorn Hour or TVix, these can handle HD and FullHD.

Bad luck, my DVP5990K55 was freezing when watching DivX, from USB or loader. I tried many times, had no success, and took to the store I bought, where they changed to a new one.
With my new 5990, I tried and worked nice with factory defaults. Then I upgraded the firmware to the yellow version, and again, the subtitles showed in yellow but a thin font and no outline. I entered the menu, changed the subtitles from default to small and confirmed, changed back to default and tried my DivX. Now everything works fine!

Philips offers in its site an update for the DVP5990 . I made download and I compared background with the one of vb6rocod. I found well better of vb6rocod ! Tomorrow I go to install firmware and I will see, really, the differences.

This Philips seems to be a realy nice player with USB2.0.

Now a tought question: The 5990 suffers the same XviD "Packed Bitstream"+"Digital Audio Out"+"HDMI" incompatibility problems as the 5965 and 5980?

New version:DVP5990_vb6_v1_2 (5990/37, 5990K_55, 5990K_75)

New "File Cutter", number of character in FileBrowser is limit now to length of "yellow" band.(More than 40 char.)
New font for FileBrowser.

Move DVD-Video (DVD Quick Play) to "Preference Page" ,where is now "DivX Subtitles"
Move "DivX Subtitles" to "General Page", you can change font and color of subtitles when movie play.
Add a new menu for subtitles color. New menu is "Color" with option "Default" - white subtitles and "Cool" - yellow subtitles.
New menu is after "DivX Subtitles".
Change color for "Display" "Folder/Single/Repeat" to white,now is visible.
"More" white color for some OSD message.
After update,apply a "Reset" and change font and color (for subtitle) to "activate" change.

Already has GoTo... Press "Title" two times and you will see "GoTo:-:--:--". Enter "h:mm:ss" and GO!

Small changes:

Smaller OSD font (like original) and for "GoTo", when put digits, I change color to a yellow. After enter last digit, color is switch to white.

From USB only 23 character, but you must be happy, most players display only 8 (in fact 6, last 2 are like ~1). And in my firmware is no limit to 40 (for files from CD/DVD).
